Atlanta Sonson - Chapman

Grew up in Hackney, East London, Atlanta is a neuro-divergent, Caribbean woman. With an artist's perspective that sometimes strikes like lightening Atlanta's process explores different perspectives and pushing boundries.

 

Her career objective is to create opportunities and pathways for young individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter the arts industry, mirroring her journey.

 

Atlanta's artistic journey commenced at the young age of 14 when she began performing spoken word. Throughout her upbringing, she engaged in various art-related activities and dedicated her time to volunteering for an arts charity Young Urban Arts Foundation to support young people which then offered her paid work. During her career she's facliated workshops and mentorships for aspiring stage managers, taught a future technicans how to make and understand a prompt copy, mentored an aspring stage manager for Arcola Academy.

Atlanta's ethos is to teach while she works as everyone deserves to have a chance to try something in the creative industry without the struggles of opening doors.

 

Atlanta holds a degree in Theatre Design from Middlesex University and completed her performance studies at Leyton Sixth Form. Her theatre background includes external performances outside of her academic studies and contributing to the set design for Little Shop of Horrors during her time in sixth form, which served as a launching pad for her career in production arts.

 

Identifying as a Multidisciplinary artist in Design and performance, Atlanta's talents span a wide range of roles, including Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, and Set Designer, all while exploring different mediums of showcasing her art.
